Burlington shooting suspect charged with attempted murder

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A suspect in a Burlington shooting over the weekend pleaded not guilty in court Monday to charges of second-degree attempted murder.

The Burlington Police say the shooting happened Sunday evening at the Salmon Run apartments. A woman reportedly called police and said her husband had been shot.

The man was taken to the hospital with a bullet wound in the chest. Police say he’s in stable condition.

Police say the victim and witness statements allowed officers to identify the suspect as Tovi Mesick, 40, of Cambridge.

Sunday night, an Essex Police K9 tracked Mesick from the Burlington scene to a location in Winooski where Mesick was arrested.

Police say Mesick has a long rap sheet including other incidents with guns.
