A car was destroyed by fire in Colchester Saturday afternoon, stopping traffic on a busy section of I-89.

Authorities say they were notified of several reports of a vehicle on fire on I-89 north at around 4:30 p.m. The Colchester Fire Department was seen actively fighting the fire that was located in the right shoulder of the interstate.
The driver was identified as Tevon Dewyer, 30, of Winooski.
Drunk driver flees scene, police say – A 30-year-old man from Milton was arrested following a crash in Shelburne early this morning.
The two-vehicle crash involving a passenger car and a truck took place on Shelburne Road at around 1:10 a.m.
Police were advised that the truck had left the scene.
Troopers along with the Winooski Police Department were able to locate the vehicle again and initiate a traffic stop on Route 15 in front of St. Michaels College.
The driver was identified as Tyler Partyka.
While speaking with Partyka, police say they observed several indicators of impairment.
He was arrested for the suspicion of DUI, criminal DLS, leaving the scene of an accident, eluding a police officer, negligent operation, and violation conditions of release.
Partyka was issued a citation to appear in court on January 26 to answer to the charges.
State Police was assisted by Winooski Police Department, Colchester Police Department, Censor Security, and Shelburne Rescue.
Library vandal – A 25-year-old man was arrested for unlawful mischief following an incident in Charlotte last week.
On January 4, authorities say they were notified of a vandalism of private property on Ferry Road at around 3:30 a.m.
Police say that Dillion Bothwell, of Charlotte, intentionally caused damage to the library’s sign and the book’s drop box on two occasions.
Bothwell was located, arrested, and brought to the Williston barracks for processing.
He was cited to appear in court on February 2. He will face charges for unlawful mischief.
Arrested, released three times in one week – A 36-year-old man was arrested following an incident in Leicester Saturday, January 7.
Authorities say they were notified of a conditions violation at a home on Leicester Whiting Road at around 2:35 p.m.
Police say that Christopher Bridgmon, of Leicester, violated his court-ordered conditions of release by remaining upon the property. Bridgmon was placed under arrest and transported to the New Haven barracks for processing.
At the conclusion of processing, he was released with a new set of conditions and a citation to appear in court on Monday.
Bridgmon has been arrested three times this week, all for conditions violations charges.
