Connecticut man sentenced for distributing fentanyl in NEK


Marvin Byrd, 29, of Hartford, CT was sentenced to 3 years in prison on November 8 for fentanyl trafficking from March to August 2023.


Byrd went under the alias “TJ” during his operations. He orchestrated the use of multiple residences in Orleans County to collect, process, and distribute drugs.


Undercover police purchased drugs from Byrd on numerous occasions, including the purchase of fentanyl.


Byrd was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Christina Reiss to 35 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.


Byrd is just one among many drug traffickers who have found a home in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, where drug sales have spiked over the past 5 years.


Police stop finds felon in possession of firearm


Bradford Police have arrested Bruce Hauser, 51, of Weare, NH in an incident involving drug possession inside a vehicle.


Police made contact with two suspicious individuals who were in a parked car at night. The car was sitting in the parking lot of Legendary Auto in Bradford, which raised suspicion since the business was closed.


After police made contact, they found numerous illegal items such as marijuana, suspected crack cocaine, and a 9mm handgun. Both individuals were detained.


One of the detainees, Hauser, is a convicted felon who is currently on probation for heroin and cocaine trafficking. He was subsequently arrested and taken to Vermont State Police-Bradford Outpost.


He was later released on a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court on January 22, 2025. Federal authorities were also notified of the incident. 


Man and juvenile assault officers in St Johnsbury


Police received a strange call on November 13 in East St Johnsbury. Police say that multiple individuals were heard yelling about a shotgun and jumping off a bridge.


When police arrived they found two individuals who attempted to assault the officers after contact.


After a brief struggle, both were taken into custody. One individual involved is Anthony Fisk, 21, of Gorham NH. The other is an unnamed juvenile.


They were transported to the Vermont State Police Barracks in St. Johnsbury and released on citations. 


Fisk is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on December 2.


Charleston man released from prison, immediately steals truck, police say


Harold Nadeau Jr., 48, of Charleston, VA is under arrest after stealing a truck in Newport and driving it to Bethlehem, NH. The incident occurred on November 7.



Nadeau had just been released from jail earlier in the day when he stole the truck, which was reported stolen around 4 pm. The truck reportedly contained $5,000 in tools and a $1,200 fuel tank.


Additionally, Nadeau had been driving on an indefinitely suspended criminal license.


Police were able to hunt Nadeau in Littleton, NH about a week later on November 13, after the truck had been spotted again.


He is being held in New Hampshire on $25,000 bail.
