RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) - A Rutland man faces second-degree murder charges following the stabbing death of a local man Saturday night.
Authorities responded to the reported stabbing in the area of Water Street and State Street just before 8 p.m.
They identified the victim as Trevor Vandenburg, 32. He was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police on Sunday arrested Brandon McRae, also of Rutland City, and charged him with second-degree murder and aggravated assault.
There were no immediate details on what prompted the violence.
The medical center’s ER briefly went into lockdown Saturday night as a safety precaution.
