Woman arrested for murder at Brattleboro homeless shelter

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (WCAX) - Police made an arrest in a murder investigation at a Brattleboro homeless shelter on Monday.

Brattleboro Police say they arrested Zaaina Asra Zakirrah Mahvish-Jammeh, 38, of Brattleboro. She is being charged with second-degree murder and was held without bail.

Police say at about 9:25 a.m. they responded to the Groundworks Collaborative Facility on Royal Road to a report of someone being attacked with an ax.

They found one person dead at the scene. The victim’s name is not being released, pending notification of next of kin.

We do not know if these two people knew each other or a possible motive.

The investigation is ongoing.
